My car is a 2002 BMW 330ci. The interface is an elm327. The dashboard is the default dashboard.

3  Products / DashCommand / Dashcommand issues on: April 20, 2008, 10:50:38 pm
I purchased Dashcommand a couple days ago and gave it a shot today. I had a few issues. First when it did get connected the data rate was pretty erratic. The RPM would update very fast for a couple seconds and stutter badly then go smooth again. The OBDII reader is on it's own usb port.
I tested entering standby and resuming and this caused dashcommand to stop updating. I also turned off the ignition and then started the car again and it wouldn't reconnect automatically. I would have to close the program and start it again.
I hope there is a way to get this thing to auto reconnect in both these situations or else it's not going to work for me as a digital dash.

4  Products / PCMSCAN / elm327 keeps trying to reconnect on: April 08, 2008, 06:34:32 pm
I finally got my elm327 reader to connect with pcmscan. Sometimes. But when I do get connected it keeps loosing the connection and has to reconnect. I am using a dedicated usb port since it wouldn't connect at all through my hub.
Any ideas? What baud rate should I be using? I can connect with either 9600 or  19200 it seems. Other baud rates it is detected but can't be communicated with.
Thanks

What does this mean? [12:47:15.390] Warning: Not scanning unlicensed parameter: SCRIPT.FUEL_FR
The only parameter that mine is showing is rpm. Is this a limit of the demo version?

I'll give it a shot once I get my OBDII working. For some reason in PCMscan it either doesn't detect it at all or if it does connect it keeps reconnecting every minute or less.

Thanks.
Here is a mock up that I made today based on a few different dashes. I combined the speedo and rpm into one gauge to save space.
Do you see any problems creating this in DashXL? Most of it would be a background image with just the needles/values and the arcs moving.
8  DashXL / DashXL Discussion / few questions on: April 03, 2008, 09:29:12 pm
I have a few questions about this program. I am looking for a good digital dash solution and I saw some posts at mp3car about this one.

Is it possible to have multiple screens of gauges? I would want speed and RPM on one and everything else on others.
If so is there a keyboard hotkey to switch screens? Or can I set up buttons on screen to switch between gauges?
Can I use an image as the background so I can do all the design work in photoshop and just do the animated bits in DashXL?
I am looking to simulate something like the Skyline dash computer.
Thanks

K.
