Hi there

I cannot get access into the engine management system on a Land rover discovery 3. i have tried numerous vehicles - still fails. - Some one else tells me its something to do with a 29 bit CAN system.

Can the pmscan software be updated to deal with this ?

Also - cannot read MAF sensors on Jaguar S Type, 3.0 V6 2000 MY and 2003MY, XJ 3.0 V6 2003.

The above issues are the same when using Scan XL.

Kind Regards

What year is your land rover? Is it diesel or gasoline? Where was it manufactured? Is it fully OBD-II/EOBD compliant? What version of the software are you using? (Always try the latest as we are constantly improving the software).

Do you mean you cannot connect at all to the ECU for the Land Rover?

hi there

Diesel Land Rover Discovery 3 UK SPec 2005 onwards. tried various models.
ALso failed coms with Range Rover L322 / LM, 2002 model year.

Its got to be EOBD compliant i thought - for both these vehicles.

I am using PMScan V2.4.2 software.

Same occurs using SCAN XL. - i still cant see what i have gained by buying scan xl for £123 to be honest. it does nothing different to PMScan.

I mean i cannot connect.

I use a blue tooth device - i can confirm that i can connect with the blue tooth device. it tells me this and also - i use it regular on other vehicles.
now when it says bluetooth connected to interface this is good - but then when i try to connect to the car using the PMScanner software - it tries to connect to the car, but it gets kicked off. - i dont think the software on the vehicle is compatible with your software. someone mentioned about Land rover using a 29 bit CAN system. you may know more what this means than i do.

And on top of this - its never ever worked with any freelander, or land rover discovery II . it should work after 2004 at least for diesels - but this just aint happening. im really disappointed - its what i work on alot.

Thanks for your reply.

The latest PCMSCAN version is 2.4.10 (build 977).

Can you provide us with a tech log?

Set the debug level to 9 in the "help" menu.
Try to connect to your vehicle.
Save the tech log from the help menu.

Will the PCMScan work with a gasoline powered LandRover Discovery II (2002)?
Thanks,
Jim

As long as it is 100% OBD-II/EOBD compliant, yes.

No - you will not be able to connect to ANY Discovery II petrol or Diesel, Neither will you be able to connect to any Freelander 1 up to 2004/ 2005. Same goes for Defenders up to 2007. and additionally all L322 up to 2006/ 2007 during the change over to CAN protocols. You will need a Dealer Machine known as T4 to connect to these vehicles.

They're not bad, but they're not good either and they'll charge WAY too much for anything. Take it somewhere else. What kinda bike and what are you looking to get done
