I just bought the Dashcommand and download the DashXL, the goal is to modified the Dsboard to my need, the first one will be to look alike a six gauges dashboard, this screen will be mostly used in "driving mode" I can't find a way to import the dashboard in the DashXL.
Any pointer ?

With the SkinXL Editor, you can import a dashboard by selecting a dashboard in the skin set, and selecting the "Edit Dashboard" button. Then go to the File menu > Import from File. You can also view any of the skin sets created by other users at DashXL.net.

I try to import some file from DashXL, like the hybrid, but it does not work, it does not have the dxl extension when I download it, I can not import it. I wish to use the one from Dashcommand and just change the value for my need, I start to realize that is way more work than expected. I spend quite some time to figure thing out and read on the online help. Hopefully I find out how to do it, other wise I will have to go with other software more easily "modifiable".

I load the Hybrid to the dashcommand and it work flawlessly ...

Unlike the ScanXL, you need another software to access dxl files as dash command uses dxls so another editor required for dxl pop over to downloads (above) and get the skinxl.exe software
the beauty of dash command requires hours of programming (if you wan non standard screen) as you'll enjoy them more as thats your hours of labour
initially i'm like you, i hate them as most display i like not possible with my programmin standard luckily the moderator helps me with some impossible program task i encountered after a year of love and hate affair, i'm able to modify them with iphone look alike screen
let me know if you need help on the display, i'll see what i can do to assist
btw are we on the wrong discussion thread?

That what I try to do is to Export the Dashcommand Skin to the SkinXl.exe modified it and then return it to use it into the Dashcommand.
I just want to change some parameter, I play with other skin (RX8 ) and I found my way out, I can't find out why I can import the Hybrid skin from SkinXL to the software ( Skinxl.exe to modify it).
The Hybrid will work for me to start with.
Maybe all this should go to SkinXL forum

I don't see a problem with the location of this thread. The only better place might be DashXL.net. You can't import an entire skin set. You can import individual dashboards. If you only want one single dashboard from the hybrid skin, you need to open that dashboard and export it, then you can import that into the new skin set. We might try to improve on this in a later release. I am able to help with almost anything you might have trouble with. Don't hesitate to ask. BengTeck - Nice job with the iPhone skin you sent me.

if you're still around to take a look at this
example 1 - import existing rx8.dxl to hybrid tahoe.dxls run skinxl - click file - open hybrid tahoe.dxls - select dashboard2 click edit dashboard icon once the dashxl editor open - click file - select Import from File select RX8NEWDAY.dxl - click open click save dashboard (your old dashboard2 now replaced by RX8NEWDAY) close editor at skinxl - click file and save
you're now able to load hybrid tahoe to dash command
example 2 - save multiple dxl to new dxls run skinxl - click file - NEW select dashboard1 - click edit dashboard icon once the dashxl editor open - click file - select Import from File select RX8NEWDAY.dxl - click open click save dashboard (your dashboard1 now replaced by RX8NEWDAY) close editor
at skinxl - click add dashboard - give it a name as dashboard2 - ok select dashboard2 - click edit dashboard icon once the dashxl editor open - click file - select Import from File select towing.dxl - click open click save dashboard (your dashboard2 now replaced by towing) close editor
you now hv two new dxl on your new dxls file but it lack the switch button but via default you may swipe between skins

If you just want the default Tuxedo skin with different gauges, let me know which gauges you want to change to what, and I can help you out with this.
