I'm currently looking for a monitoring setup based on a car pc for my '07 Opel Astra OPC. The ultimate goal is to have the whole setup integrated in Centrafuse so that it starts automatically when PC boots and selected measurments remain visible during the normal car pc use (like playing music etc.).

Due to integration capabilities DashCommand seems a clear choice however (as far as I understand from the website description) it does not support audible alerts (warnings) and - most importantly - any non-generic PIDs add-ons. On the other hand ScanXL PRO which does have the needed functionality seems to lack the custom dashboard option.

So I'm wondering is it possible to a custom dashboard with proprietary PIDs add-on and audible warnings working and (if yes) which PPE products I should go for?

Another issues which seem unclear are:
1. Innovate OT-2 and LC-1 support is mentioned both for DashCommand and ScanXL PRO. I have LC-1 installed already, do I need OT-2 to get the data from LC-1 into PPE software or I may simply use the LC-1 serial out and some other supported OBD-2 scanner (non-Innovate)?
2. I note that there are problems with OT-2 and PPE software on some vehicles. Do you have and idea which may be the cause (like any specific CAN protocol used in all "problem cases" or whatever) so that I may try to check in advance whether I'm prone to have the similar issues on my car if using OT-2 as a scanner.
3. On my car for some reasons standard ELM-based scanners and software do not show the boost pressure and obviously none of the non-generic PIDs are available. Opel dedicated scanners however do this pretty well. For me it is ultimately importany to have at least the boost data as well as ignition timing retard (knock-based) and ideally long-term / short-term fuel trims. I know that the latter items are not a part of OBD-2 standardised PIDs set, so I'm looking at GM Powertrain add-on. The car is a '07 Opel Astra OPC, '07 Opel Astra was sold by GM in US as Saturn Astra (though, only 1.8 lt NA z18xer engine as far as I know - whilst mine is 2.0 lt turbo z20leh) - is there any chance to know for sure whether GM Powertrain add-on will be suitable for my car?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

The LC-1 should connect to DashCommand without the OT-2.  I have not tested the LC1 personally but others on the forum have connected to DashCommand.  We don't have any enhanced manufacturer data for Opel, so I would lean to DashCommand for that reason.  You could do a custom PID script that would trigger, for example, turn the screen bright white or red if a value was to high for a warning.

Thanks for prompt response.

Is there any way to add a custom PID to DashCommand?

We don't support custom PIDs, in that you cannot request an extra PID from the vehicle. But you can design your own PID script to calculate a value for your dashboard, based on the PIDs DashCommand reads. This won't work on iPhone because Apple treats a PID script as 3rd party code and doesn't allow it.
