Just getting up to speed (pardon the pun  Grin) with Dash Command and the only problem is with the speed. I'm using the built-in dashboard but the speed reading is way out - showing 15mph when I'm doing around 30. I've changed the speed correction factor in the vehicle settings but it doesn't seem to make any difference not matter what I'm putting in there. What am I doing wrong??

Thanks

Nick

Does it show the correct numbers for SAE.VSS in the Data View?

Hi Weston

No it doesn't, but I think I have sussed it! When entering the correction factor, I was putting the number in then clicking 'back'. Even though the number was still there if I went back to the input screen it doesn't seem to register it unless you press return after?!?

Also I followed the instructions for finding the correction factor using tyre sizes which gave me a correction factor of 0.973, which made no difference, but when using the GPS method I came up with 0.6 - After entering that and pressing return it now seems good.

Thanks

Actually no, scrub that. Just been out again and its reverted to the wrong speed. I re-input as per above but it didn't work that time. I eventually got it working by disconnecting and reconnecting but something isn't right. The SAE.VSS value matches that dashboard, but is too slow by my factor of 0.6 compared to GPS and the car's speedo.

Other things are strange too - on the trip stats page after a 10 minute drive it is showing the following:
Acceleration 0.1g
Braking 0.1g
Engine Power Max 6hp
Engine Torque Max 15 ib ft

Is this right initially or should they be more accurate?

Thanks

Nick

I would think that just about anything bigger than a lawn mower should get more than 6hp, something isn't right. The most likely culprit is incorrect vehicle settings. Send me a screen shot of your vehicle settings so we can see if anything is wrong.

With it not saving your settings, my first guess is that you haven't created a vehicle in the Vehicle Manager. Have you done this?

Hi Weston

Yes I have. Although I've not filled in many details as most I can't find out for my vehicle. How would you find out frontal area for example???

Anyway here's some pics of my settings - sorry they are a bit naff, but I'm running on a small Archos 9 tablet and cant do screengrabs.

Im running Dashcommand on an Android.  I would like the Speed gauge to match my Speedo.  Dash command is running 2mph below Speedo.  Any way to make it add 2 at all speeds

DashCommand reads the value straight from your vehicle's ECU. More likely than DashCommand being wrong, your speedo is probably reading 2 MPH high. Its pretty common in a lot of vehicles to have the gauges be off by a little bit. DashCommand doesn't calculate it or try to guess it, the number you see is directly reported by your vehicle (unless you have a Vehicle Speed Correction Factor entered).

There isn't anything built in to DashCommand right now to offset the speed by a certain number. Only to scale it...

My DashCommand is also running below my speedo -in my case it is aprox 4 km below. My car is a Nissan Sentra 2.0.
