2006 GMC Sierra

I have connected to this truck many times in the past.  I can currently connect to my wife's Camry.

I run ScanXL on an older Laptop with no internet connection, so I'm going to type out what is on the console.

Connecting via USB cable.

When trying to connect to Anti-Lock Brakes/Traction control:

-Opening OBD-II connection
-Searching for ELM Interface
-Checking COM1
-ELM Interface not found on COM1!
-Checking COM3
-ELM Interface not found on COM3!
-Checking COM4
-Found ELM Interface on COM4
-Switching to 115200 baud
-Failed to open OBD-II connection. Error 201

When trying to connect to Generic OBD:

-Opening OBD-II connection
-Searching for ELM Interface
-Checking COM1
-ELM Interface not found on COM1!
-Checking COM3
-ELM Interface not found on COM3!
-Checking COM4
-Found ELM Interface on COM4
-Failed to open OBD-II connection. Error 104

I don't believe the software or cable is at fault since I can unplug from the GMC, plug into the Toyota, and connect with no problems.  I'm assuming that for whatever reason, the vehicle computer is not communicating.

Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts?

Thanks

Edit:  Truck currently has an ABS light on and obvious Anti-Lock problem (obvious when pushing brake pedal).  There is no check engine light on.

The data link connector is powered through the lighter fuse, and the fuse is good.

When the cable is plugged into the port, the status light comes on red.  Power is there, it's just not connecting.

Have you created a new vehicle, or selected your previous vehicle, for your truck in the Vehicle Manager? ScanXL saves some information like which PIDs are supported, and what protocol was used, for each individual vehicle to speed up connection time. Make sure you've not selected your wife's car still in the Vehicle Manager. You can get to the Vehicle Manager by pressing the button near the top that looks like a little red car.

Been a long time.  Life happened, and I got extremely frustrated, so I took a time out.  Sorry.

FWIW, ScanXL has been working great on every other vehicle that I plug it into.

Anyway....

I made sure I was connecting to the truck in Vehicle Manager.

Today, I downloaded the most current build and drivers I could find.  Now, I can connect to the Generic OBD but not ABS/Traction control.

After it fails to connect to the ABS/Traction control, I have to connect twice for it to reconnect to the Generic.  It consistently takes two tries to connect to Generic after failing to connect to ABS/Traction control.

I have tried as many as 10 times in a row to connect to the ABS/Traction control with no luck.

I figure I'm not doing something correctly.  Maybe I haven't activated the GM Enhanced correctly?

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Try entering the vehicle as a 2005 and see if it will connect.  2005-2006 is the time GM changed Protocol.  Let us know if it connects as a 2005.

Awesome, that did it.

In addition to ABS/Traction Control, I also have the Restraints Control Module now available.

Thank you so much for your help.

2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax Diesel LBZ

I have the same issue. Since I upgraded from version 3.5.0 to 3.5.1, I get a Fatal Error message when the program tries to validate powertrain module PIDs. When can we expect a fix or update to this issue?

I believe we have solved the issue where it crashes while validating the powertrain PIDs, it should be in the next update.
