Hi everyone. I am a newbie and need some help as I am running dash command but it is so slow it is unusable. Sad

At first I thought it was my hardware (using the kiwi style china clone off ebay: http://goo.gl/fgros) but when I run Rev it works perfectly so I am sure it must be down to settings...

So the hardware I have is above. I am using an iPhone4S and have an AppRadio - which is another reason why I want to stick with DashCommand and not Rev...

My car is a 2008 Audi TT 2.0 FSI Petrol. I can connect to my OBD-II fine but the refresh rate through the menus and Tuxedo is AWEFUL, very slow to update and take ages to get menu commands up, etc (disconnect from the OBD and all is quick again). I have switched off persistent PIDs which has helped but not enough.

Also speaking of PIDs when when I click 'Validate PIDs' in Vehicle Manager it takes around 4 minutes to update and stop spinning and nothing has been updated in the list; should that happen? As I can't get boost readings I am assuming because of lack of details.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Smiley

The troubleshooting guide has a section on performance issues: http://www.palmerperformance.com/download/docs/DashCommand_Troubleshooting_Guide.pdf

Have you tried going to the DataLogging screen? This will show all your PIDs but without the overhead of the graphical gauges, and should show if the Tuxedo skin is the problem.

Hi, have read through and that's where I got the disable PIDs from. I haven't tried DataLogging - will check later tonight. Have tried a couple of skins and some are better than others but not like the vids on youtube mine is three times slower. The whole app slows down, menus etc.

Pahl, is it also slow for you, on the DataLogging screen? And have you disabled the Persistant PIDs?

Yes, disabled. Also I changed dash skin today and I found out that has to do with that (part of it).

Original skin has a lot of info at the same time and app gets REAAAAALLY SLOOOOOW (HUGE lag), I changed to another skin with only a few gauges and that HUGE APP LAG becomes smaller BUT I still get some lag on the readings (2 - 4 seconds). And if I just go to data logging screen (=no skin to load) and start with almost no PID the app goes fine. As soon as I start to enter new PIDs start to lag, at about 4 or 5 it becomes painfully slow again....

I'm not a programmer but it seems to be related to how the app is able to deal with the info (By the way, my devices are iPad2 and iPhone 4S both 5.01) so maybe we're suffering from bad programming?(with all due respect)

Also, I want to insist that I have also REV installed on both devices and everything goes fine (I guess this discard faulty obd2 or something)

I really prefer DashCommand instead of REV, it offers much more info and looks great on the iPad BUT it has to work!!

Thanks!

Pahl, can you send us a tech log? There might be some information that helps to diagnose the problem.

We've run this on iPhone 4S and iPad2, but haven't seen any slowness. In fact it runs pretty fast on those. But obviously in your experience we are running very slowly.

Please send a tech log, and reference this forum thread in your email.

Thanks.

Well.... I can (and I will) but I keep seeing requests for tech logs on the forum but no solutions posted.

So feel a little hopeless about this...

*I'll write back as soon as I send the log.

When a user sends a tech log to support, we usually handle that through email. Then once the issue is resolved nobody cares to post back on the forum. So don't be discouraged by the lack of response on the forum to a techlog.
