So first I bought the GoPoint GL1 OBD2 cord then I bought a iPad car mount then I forked out the $50 for Dash Command app.

Well Dash Command does NOT work with my iPad  Angry

So I tried my iPhone and I put in as much info as I could find for my car and did a few runs.

I'm not happy w/ this app for $50 at all,  it's worth about $20 maybe.

Now if I'm using it wrong or something then please by all means help me understand this app and how to use it better.

I have a very secure mount for my iPhone 4s on my dash that allows NO movement.

and then i did a run where it showed like 579 hp and 983lb-ft WTF?

DashCommand should work as well on the iPad 1 as on the iPhone. If you are not getting readings on the dashboard then the problem would be that your car doesn't report those parameters through OBD-II. On the other hand if you are getting readings on the iPhone then you should be getting the same readings on the iPad.

Can you please go into some more detail about how the iPad is failing?

The torque is pretty dependant on the correct values getting entered in the vehicle manager. Scanning over the values the wheel circumference sticks out. This should be the distance around the tire, not the diameter. 17 inches seems pretty small.

Thank you on the wheel info I'll fix that.

When trying to use my iPad 1 I plug my gopoint obd2 cord into the car and into my iPad open the dash command app and instantly the hp/power & tq/ft-lb both say N/A where the # read out would be  Huh.
Next time I use it I'll take a screen shot.  But when I use my iPhone 4S the power & tq both "work" give #s no N/A shows on either.

The troubleshooting guide has some suggestions on why the torque might be off: http://www.palmerperformance.com/download/docs/DashCommand_Troubleshooting_Guide.pdf

Basically if you don't have all the proper settings filled out you will get either a bad value or a N/A.

Have you filled in the same vehicle settings on the iPad as the iPhone? If the iPad is missing some vehicle settings, that would explain why you are getting N/A.
