I have interest in buying the DashCommand app for my iphone to keep up with my wifes PT cruiser ( 2004) because to me this is an expensive app I want to know what I am getting or not getting,
Will all the features of DashCommand work with the PT Cruiser?
Many thanks!
Cheers,
P.

That should work fine. Any vehicle sold in the United States after 1996 work with DashCommand.

Now when you say all of the features, each vehicle will send different parameters (or PIDs) over OBD-II. So with some vehicles you might get more information.

But you should get all the basic stuff, like fuel economy information and trouble codes.

My point is DC is a rather expensive app, if I don't get all the features with a PT Cruiser then I could just buy a much cheaper app if all I can get is "basic" info with DC,
was hoping someone with a PT or a tech from Palmer would have the answer....

If we can get another PT cruiser user to answer this thread, that would be great. However we don't have any special techs here at Palmer Performance. None of us have any experience with a PT cruiser.

Can you tell me specifically if there is some feature you are interested in or wondering about?

Thanks,
I realize you can't be expected to know everything about every car, but one would hope/expect that somewhere the into does exist.
Well, I am curious about the app where it will look like a dash on my phone,
Speedo, Tach, then water temp and fuel, then MPG and telling me the codes and what they mean....

Trouble codes, speed and rpm is standard on any car. Coolant temp and mpg is also pretty standard so that should be there.

One thing you might not get is distance to empty. I've seen some cars that don't report that.

Sure wish I just export the PID list from ScanXL...

SAE.ECT
SAE.IAT
SAE.LAMBDA
SAE.LOAD_ABS
SAE.LONGFT1
SAE.LONGFT2
SAE.MAF
SAE.MAP
SAE.RPM
SAE.SHRTFT1
SAE.SHRTFT2
SAE.SPARKADV
SAE.TP
SAE.VSS

Possibly a few more, mostly status values.  Plus engine codes of course.

There are more available that DashCommand cannot read.
See this file - http://www.aeroforcetech.com/files/parameters_features.pdf and scroll down to the Chrysler section starting on page 10.

Thanks Dean,
You know to me as much as they charge for DashCommand one would think it wouldn't leave anything out as you say it does with the PT.

DashCommand can only read OBD-II standardized PIDs, it cannot pull manufacturer specific information (which is 75% of the Chrysler information listed in that pdf). Things like knock and trans temp don't effect emissions, and so they aren't included in the OBD-II standards. Here is a list of the standardized PIDs, and realize that not every PID will be supported on every vehicle:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OBD-II_PIDs

There are many cases where a vehicle will support a manufacturer variant of a PID (say, fuel level), but won't support the OBD-II PID for the same data.
