Hello

I have upgraded to iOS7 on my iPhone 5 and now DC takes ages or doesnt connect to the phone. The phone is connected to the wifi from the ELM327, that happens straight away. I usually get flashing lights when the Elm is connecting and then connected, now, all I get is the red power light. The wifi page on my phone shows a strong connection to the wifi signal instantly.

Before, on iOS 6, the DC would connect without fault.

If DC does connect, it stays connected and works properly.

Is this something that has been reported before with relation to iOS 7?

iOS 7 seems to be deleting wifi settings, which the ELM relies on to make the connection. Could you please post a screenshot here of your phone's ELM wifi setting?

After testing again I was able to get a connection that lasted about 30 seconds then it dropped. I can repeat this cycle by power cycling the kiwi and forcing dashcommand to reconnect.

Once connected mine doesnt drop out. Its getting the connection in the first place thats a problem for me.
I get in the car, turn on the engine. Connect the Elm to the obd port, then open the app.
Pre iOS7 that would connect first time, every time.
Now, I get the red power light on the Elm, but none of the other lights. Before, I'd get all of them flashing, showing data was being transfered.
On the phone, it shows a connection to the Elm under wifi settings.
I will post some screen shots up tonight.

Cheers

Try adding a router setting of
192.168.0.10
in your WiFi settings

Sarlac you seem to have a separate issue than Piesoup. Can you send us a techlog of your Kiwi dropping the connection? Please include a description in your email of what you are seeing.

Dear Palmer, I have IOS7, Iphone5, DashCommand V3.4.0 (Build3461) ELM327 WIFI brand new, purchased October 2013.
The IPhone5 finds the WIFI without any problems, and connects to an IP-address 169.254.27.70, subnet 255.255.0.0. using DHCP.

When I goto to the DashCommander I can't get a connection. I have tried everything 192.168.0.10 / 192.168.0.11 / 192.168.0.123 / 169.254.27.70 / AUTO / Port 35000. I have also tried to press FIXED to define a fixed IP-adress, withour any luck.

I am looking forward to get suggestions.

Viuf, have you seen the wifi setup guide? http://www.palmerperformance.com/download/docs/DashCommand_WiFi_Setup_Guide.pdf

Inside DashCommand you should set your OBD-II interface type to ELM and your OBD-II data port to Auto.

Then see the Wifi setup guide for the iOS settings you will need to use.

Hi John I tried the manual now, i also got a manual a small CD with the ELM327, is was a joke, the PDF document was generated with a Trial version of FOXpdf Tool Word to PDF converter, så af HUGE RED TRIAL LOGO was all over the manual Shocked(

IP Address 192.168.0.11
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Router 192.168.0.10

No Problem for the IPhone5 to connect to the ELM327, it shows fine on the overview.

DashCommander to AUTO. DashCommander is trying to connect "OPENING ODB-II Connection", without any luck.

I have closed all other APPS on the IPhone5, disabled Bluetooth.

Hi John, by the way, when I changed the setting OBD-II data port to AUTO,  and pressed SETTINGS to go back, the Iphone APP crashed 9 out of 10 times.

I am looking forward to try the APP, it was a kind of expensive, but got a lot of nice ratings, so Huh  Smiley

The app should not be crashing. I have not heard of it crashing coming out of the settings. You might try to reinstall the app.

If you reinstall the app and still it will not connect, I would suggest that you send us a techlog: http://www.palmerperformance.com/forum/index.php?topic=4665.0

Make sure if you send a techlog to add a note in your email that you are unable to connect.
