Brian,
I am trying to get my new ELM interface to connect. I have ScanXL-ELM installed on my Vista laptop but it won't find the ELM USB interface on any Com port (should be Com4).  Huh

I have connected previously using ScanXL-J2534 and my Mongoose cable with no problems.

Is there a different driver required for the ELM USB for Vista? The driver disk doesn't have a Vista folder.

According to this techlog, COM4 does not have an ELM connected (at least not with the standard baud rates). Can you try connecting with the free scantool.net software and see if it is able to connect at all?

Brian,

I connected with Scantool.net software with no problems. I then switched over to ScanXL-ELm and it connected OK...

The issue must have been with the baud rate not getting configured correctly by windows.

ScanXL-ELM Working fine now!!! Thanks Brian....... Grin

I am having similar issues with windows Vista.  When I plug in the reader via usb vista automatically installs drivers for it that dont seem to work.  Ive tried updating the drivers, but vista just keeps telling me it has already installed the best drivers available.  Ive tried disconneting from the internet, but it still installs its own drivers.

Ive searched the internet to see if I could turn that off, but no luck.

Please help....thanks
