What is the difference betwen these two interfaces?  Is one better/faster/whatever than the other??  I plan to use on a 97 Cherokee, with Scan XL.

All the hardware that we sell uses the ELM327 interface if that helps you in your decision at all.  ELM is a popular low cost interface, and J2534 is usually used more by professionals.  You should be happy with either interface.

The ELM interface will allow this, but only newer versions of the software will be able to connect to these modules.
