At this point, I'm not concerned about the slowdown. That's why I got the obdlink sx, since it's recommended hardware. The android radio I am using has RK3188 chip. It has a quad core running at 1,800MHz so I seriously don't think that's the problem.
I bought a new obdlink sx so it probably has new hardware that the dashcommand isn't seeing.

Dashcommand for pc recognized and worked with my obdlink sx. Do you still think it's hardware failure?

I'm not sure it is hardware failure. What's happening is DashCommand isn't opening communication with the USB device. It seems like Scantool.net might have changed their hardware and it no longer works with DashCommand on Android. If so, they could confirm that with a fairly simple test.

Unfortunately we don't have a new SX to test with. If their test shows DashCommand still works with their hardware, then the unit you have is probably defective in some way.

I don't think I want to get into this back and forth business and be the frustrated middle man while one company blames the other. Not worth it. I hate to do it but I'm just going to give up on dashcommand.
Thanks for your efforts.

I understand, and I am sorry to hear that. Quite often we'll get reports from a customer that something isn't working. If we don't understand what's going on, we usually suspect the hardware. Especially in this case where we haven't had any other reports of the SX not working with DashCommand.

I'd encourage you to contact their support team. They are usually pretty customer friendly. If you hit a dead end with them, you can always give up.

This is Brian from ScanTool.net.  We would be happy to send you a new OBDLink SX, so we can resolve this issue.

Turns out DashCommand is missing the USB identifier it needs for this hardware. We'll add that in an upcoming version. Probably not the next version, which is hopefully to be released very soon. But the following release will have the fix.

I saw that the new update showed up in the play store. Just so I don't go nuts checking everyday, is there a time frame for when the next version will come out?

Time frames are a bit hard to come by. I expect it to be about a month. Really hard to say, but won't be worth checking every day.
